Three-point facial contouring in Korea: what the name means and what to ask

Made Young Plastic Surgery building in Seoul

The label “three-point facial contouring” commonly refers to the cheekbones, jaw and chin. It does not mean that everyone needs all three areas treated, or that hospitals use one identical operation. Start by asking what the proposed plan actually includes and why it fits the concern you want assessed. A package name is not an individual diagnosis.

Describe the concern before choosing the package

Prepare a short explanation of what you want to discuss and which views show the concern. Share previous facial procedures and available records the hospital requests. Reference photos can help explain a preference, but another person’s outline is not a result that can be promised. Ask the surgeon which parts of your goal may or may not be achievable.

Ask the surgeon to name each proposed area

Request an explanation of which areas are included, the reason for each and whether an alternative or no treatment is reasonable. Ask what examinations or imaging the hospital considers necessary before a final plan. If the written proposal only says three-point contouring, request the specific procedure descriptions rather than assuming the name explains everything.

Discuss anaesthesia, discomfort and risks directly

Ask who will explain anaesthesia and the individual pain-management plan, and what risks and limitations apply to the proposed operations. Pain experiences differ; a star rating or “painless” slogan is not a reliable personal forecast. Record unanswered questions for the treating team instead of asking a coordinator to choose medicines or predict how you will feel.

Plan the stay around required reviews

Confirm the hospital’s follow-up appointments, support requirements and individual travel advice before fixing your return ticket. Ask how to report a concern and what happens after you leave Korea. There is no stay length or swelling deadline in this guide. Practical coordination can support a medical plan, but cannot replace assessment of whether the plan is suitable for you.

Practical checklist

  • The proposed cheekbone, jaw and chin procedures are individually named.
  • The reason for treating each area and possible alternatives are explained.
  • Requested previous records and assessments are identified.
  • Anaesthesia, risks and pain-management questions have a clinical contact.
  • Required reviews, return-travel advice and follow-up channels are confirmed.

Questions before you decide

Must all three areas be treated?

No. The term is a broad label, not a requirement. Only a surgeon’s assessment can establish an appropriate proposal for your situation.

How many days of recovery should I book?

Ask the hospital about the actual procedures and reviews. This article does not give a universal recovery period or a date when flying is appropriate.

Can a reference photograph decide the plan?

It can help describe a preference. It does not establish your anatomy, appropriate operation or achievable outcome; those require clinical assessment.
